General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has emphasized that the party’s policies are aimed at advancing national development rather than merely securing votes.
During the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto in Accra , Mr. Kwetey expressed concern about the increasing despair among Ghanaian youth due to current government policies over the past eight years.
He stated that the NDC’s objective is to restore hope among young Ghanaians and rekindle their patriotism to address the growing trend of brain drain.
“We’ve seen the hopes of our young people crushed,” he remarked, I don’t think there’s been a time in our history, maybe before 1982, when so many young people wanted to leave this country in droves as we have seen in the last eight years. It’s sad that in 2009, when the NDC came to office, young people were coming back to Ghana from abroad because they saw hope. Now, we’ve witnessed the collapse of our economy and the despair of our youth.”
Mr. Kwetey criticized recent government policies, including NABCO, which he described as ineffective and misleading, arguing that while anyone can propose policies, it’s the execution and impact that matter.
“The policies unveiled over the last eight years have been nothing but scams, NAPBCO was designed just for votes” he said.
Mr. Kwetey assured the public that under John Mahama’s leadership, the NDC is committed to progress-focused policies, praising Mahama’s vision for prioritizing meaningful development over mere political gain.
“The difference between us and them is that we prioritize progress before votes, while they seek power, we seek progress. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC are dedicated to putting the nation’s advancement at the forefront.” he explained.
