Abeiku Santana, a well-known figure in the media, has entered the current dispute concerning Ghana’s founders.
In a tweet on X, Abeiku stated that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the late first president of Ghana, is not only the country’s creator but also one of the main figures in the African continent’s founding.
Following President Akufo-Addo’s remark during the Founder’s Day address on Saturday, April 3, the argument over who founded Ghana commenced.
Since then, his remarks have sparked discussions around the country, and Nkrumah’s party, the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has responded.
During the speech, President Akufo-Addo expressed disagreement with the idea that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the only founder of Ghana.

While acknowledging Nkrumah’s accomplishments, he feels that other national heroes should receive more recognition.
“I speak to you this evening, rejecting completely, the notion that Ghana was founded by one man. While Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to our independence are undeniable, it is important to acknowledge for ourselves that respect that the struggle for our nation’s freedom was a collective effort spanning several generations,” the President noted.
Abeiku posted a video of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Independence Square with the Big Five on his official X account in response to the recent controversy. He commented, “Beyond Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is a founding Father of Africa! Peridot.
