Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, Ghanaian broadcaster and culture enthusiast, has strongly refuted claims that the widely circulated ‘Agyapadie’ document is a mere fabrication.
In a recent statement on Joy News, Mr. Darkwah expressed deep concerns about Ghana’s leadership and governance, observing that Ghana has a wealth of talented youth and experienced elders yet lacks effective succession planning and clear leadership.
He criticized the leadership for their failure to train successors, which he views as selfish and detrimental to the nation’s progress, and compared Ghana’s political structure unfavorably with China’s, highlighting the disparity in the number of ministers and advisors.
“And then I see a Ghana of vast natural resources but very limited mental resources in those who are entrusted with authority, with those who are clothed with power to lead. I see a Ghana where the shepherd is so selfish that every day he goes out with the sheep, he sells some of the sheep quietly and does not let the owners know,” he said.
Mr. Darkwah also lamented the rising cost of living and the devaluation of the Ghanaian cedi, questioning how ordinary citizens cope with such economic hardships.
Reflecting on his experiences abroad and the contrasting challenges faced by those who cannot escape the local economic conditions, he questioned, “What about the majority of people who may even work harder than us? Who may even be smarter than the people who have elected and appointed? How do they survive? So where is the leadership?”
He denounced the ‘Agyapadie’ document, which he previously dismissed as nonsensical, now viewing it as a revealing plan by those he accuses of plundering the nation.
Citing the document’s introduction, he claims that it reflects the ongoing issues and historical grievances that he believes are manifesting in Ghana’s current state.
