Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for their three-match tour of the United States as he continues to battle back from injury.
It is over 13 months since the £15m signing from Feyenoord last featured in a competitive game.
Malacia had knee surgery last summer, with manager Erik ten Hag initially told the 24-year-old would be fit in the autumn and then at the beginning of February.
Both those deadlines were missed and although Malacia is working at United’s Carrington training ground, the club says he will not travel to the States “as he continues his rehabilitation from injury under the guidance of medical staff”.

As expected, new signing Leny Yoro is in the squad, as is England winger Jadon Sancho, who has ended his dispute with Ten Hag.
England duo Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw are among eight players who will miss the trip after being given time off following Euro 2024 and Copa America.
United open their tour against Arsenal in Los Angeles on Saturday and also play Spanish side Real Betis and old rivals Liverpool.
