The 64th UCC SRC President-elect of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Emmanuel Acheampong Nana Adjei, has pledged to continue and complete all viable projects initiated by previous SRC administrations, promising continuity in student leadership while introducing new initiatives to improve student welfare.
Mr. Nana Adjei, a Level 300 Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Economics student, made the pledge after being elected the 64th SRC President following the university’s student elections. He secured 7,001 votes, representing 53.2 per cent of the valid votes cast, alongside his running mate, Regina Yayra Adenyo, who was elected Vice President.
Commitment to Continuity
The President-elect said his administration would build on the achievements of former SRC leaders instead of abandoning ongoing projects, stressing that student development should remain a continuous process regardless of changes in leadership.
He noted that initiatives that directly benefit students would receive the necessary attention to ensure their successful completion.
According to him, continuity in leadership is essential for sustaining development and ensuring that resources invested in previous projects are not wasted.
Reviving the Student Data Bundle
One of the flagship promises of the incoming administration is the reintroduction of the subsidised student data package first introduced under the 62nd SRC President, Abraham Norman Nortey.
The package, which offered students 10GB of internet data, 500 call minutes and 200 SMS at an affordable rate, became one of the most popular welfare initiatives on campus.

Mr. Nana Adjei said his administration would engage telecommunications companies and relevant stakeholders to restore the package, describing affordable internet access as a necessity for academic work in the digital era.
He also pledged to advocate for improved Wi-Fi connectivity across the university to support teaching, learning and research.
Completing the SRC Hall Annex
The President-elect identified the completion of the SRC Hall Annex accommodation project as another major priority.
He said accommodation remains one of the biggest challenges facing students, adding that completing the annex project would increase bed capacity and improve students’ living conditions.

His administration, he said, would work closely with university authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the project progresses.
Student Welfare at the Centre
Mr. Nana Adjei also outlined plans to expand scholarship and financial aid opportunities for needy but brilliant students while pursuing the establishment of a student mini-mart to make essential commodities more affordable.
He further pledged to advocate improvements in lecture halls, campus roads and other academic facilities to enhance the overall learning environment.
According to him, strengthening student welfare will remain central to his administration’s agenda.
Broad Electoral Support
The President-elect enjoyed widespread support across the university, winning eight of the ten halls of residence, including Atlantic Hall, Adehye Hall, Oguaa Hall, Valco Trust Hall, Valco Hall, SRC Hall, GUSSS Hall and University Hall Housing Medical Students (UHMS).
He also secured victories at the university’s satellite campuses in Nyakrom and Dominase.
The strong showing has been interpreted by many students as an endorsement of the Nyame Tease campaign’s vision for inclusive and transformational leadership.
Looking Ahead
As preparations begin for the official transition, students have expressed optimism that the incoming SRC administration will honour its campaign promises while maintaining continuity in projects inherited from previous executives.

Mr. Nana Adjei and his Vice President-elect, Regina Yayra Adenyo, are expected to assume office following the university’s constitutional transition and handing-over process on July 20, 2026, ushering in a new chapter of student leadership at the University of Cape Coast.
