Veteran Ghanaian actor Agya Koo halted his performance during a burial service when a member of the public began chanting in favor of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President John Mahama.
Agya Koo, who was performing live with a band at the funeral, broke off her song in a widely circulated video on X (previously Twitter) by EDHUB to respond to a supporter who was yelling for John Mahama.
The actor may be seen stating that important figures in the opposition NDC are among the band’s members.
“We are all Ghanaians, and we are all tolerant. We have members of the NDC in our band, but we are all working together,” he said, addressing the crowd.

He brought up the fact that the drummers are NDC members, whereas one of the band members was formerly a teacher and is currently an NPP activist.
“This lady used to be a teacher in the Central Region, but now she is an organizer in the NPP. The drummers you see here are also members of the NDC, but we are all doing one work and on the same team because we are all tolerant and are all Ghanaians”,he emphasized.
Then he asked the chanter, “Why are there so many chants and noises? Were elections to take place today? Do we cast our ballots today?”
He concluded his performance and left, feeling degraded.
“I was surprised and disappointed by the chant, we were there to perform and unite, not to campaign”, he said .
