Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam announced significant efforts to digitalize the economy, aiming to involve every citizen.
During the 2024 mid-year budget review on July 23, he revealed that GH₵135 million has been invested in the national identification program since January 2024.
“Mr. Speaker, to advance our digitalization drive and expand our unique identification system, we have invested about 135 million Ghana Cedis in the National Identification Programme since January 2024,” he stated.
Dr. Amin Adam emphasized that this investment is crucial for enhancing economic participation and efficiency, assuring that the government is focused on maintaining progress in economic recovery and development.
“The stabilization is real. We are determined to stay the course of our fiscal consolidation program. Increased attention will continue to be given to prudent management of approved expenditures and improved revenue mobilization,” he added.
Dr. Amin Adam also announced that the government has invested approximately GH₵10 billion in the road sector since January 2024.
“The government has secured equipment to complement the efforts of our local authorities in improving community roads nationwide,” he confirmed.
He highlighted progress on key infrastructure projects, including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Ofankor-Nsawam Road, Keta Water Supply, Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges, three bypasses on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Line.
“We have completed the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Yakubu Tali International Airport in Tamale,” he added.
Regarding the Agenda 111 project, he noted that many hospitals, including the Afari Hospital in Kumasi, are at various stages of completion.
