The Central Regional Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah has asked prospective NSS Personnel to seek official permission from their assigned institutions should they be in school at the start of the 2024/2025 service period in September 2024.
Mr. Alex Mensah emphasized that they are aware some students would not have completed school by the first week of September when the 2024/2025 service year begins.
“So, by then, you should have done your registration already after the postings have been released but have not completed school yet. You have to submit your appointment letter and university examination timetable to officially inform the head of the institution you have been posted to about your delay in starting work.”
The Central Regional Director stressed that no vacuum will be created as personnel of the 2023/2024 service year will still be at post by the time the prospective ones begin.
According to him, the leave period for the current personnel begins in October 2024 to end their service for the 2023/2024 period.
Mr. Mensah emphasized the importance of such personnel submitting their timetables to the institution where they will posted.
He stressed that this official permission is crucial to ensure they receive their NSS allowance for September 2024, as the secretariat has made provision for such personnel.
“Everyone will be paid only if the personnel registered and sought permission from the institution they were posted to. The permission qualifies one to be paid. So if you have taken official permission we will consider that whether you start in September or you have genuine reasons to start in October which I believe will just be a few.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah cautioned against any false submission of timetable by personnel emphasizing they will not be spared when caught.
