The minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Md. Cecelia Dapaah has stated that President Akufo-Addo will this month cut the sod for work to begin on the Tamale Water Project.
According to her, the ministry has received parliamentary approval for the project which is the biggest water supply project to be undertaken in the country.
“The ministry has received parliamentary approval for the Tamale Water Project and it is estimated that this will be the biggest ever water project on record in the country and we are very proud to say His Excellency will cut the sod for this project at the end of this very month”, she said.

According to the Md. Dapaah, the Tamale Water Project when complete, together with other ongoing water projects will help address the water deficiency in the rural and urban areas of the country.
Meanwhile, the minister has stated that government has spent a total of 246million Ghana Cedis on both rural and urban water on Covid19 water dispensation to citizens from the month of April to June as announced by President Akufo-Addo, and further advised citizens to put government’s interventions to good use.
“We need to protect the infrastructure government spends good money giving us; the institutions are doing their part and we are all expected not to tamper with these structures when they are put in place”, she said.
