Mzbel, a hiplife artist and entrepreneur from Ghana, has taken issue with the Food and Drugs Authority’s order prohibiting celebrities from promoting alcohol.
Mzbel revealed that she lost a significant amount of money from her agreement with Joy Dadi around eight years ago when she was going to promote the booze brand in an interview that aired on Onua FM on July 1.
Mzbel explained that even though she was given a portion of Gh₵25,000, the agreement was abruptly canceled when the business learned of the FDA prohibition.
Up to the deal’s cancelation, the entrepreneur said, picture shoots and other procedures had already started, and preparations for a billboard were under way.
She said that there was a sizable remaining balance that would allow her to start a business.

“They gave me Gh₵25,000 that was a long time. About seven to eight years ago. It was part payment; they had paid for my photoshoots and every other expense and we were preparing for a billboard before they realized about the FDA ban so we could not do the billboard.
“The pictures that we took and every other thing we did went to waste. They could bot take back the money because they had already paid me,” she noted.
The sum that was left for Mzbel to receive was substantial, therefore she expressed her displeasure with the way things transpired.
“It worried me. I was pained by everything because the balance left was huge sum of money which I could have used to start a project and even donated to some people but I lost everything,” she added.
