The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has reassigned the Obuasi West MP Kwaku Kwarteng from Chairman of the Finance Committee to Majority Spokesperson and Chairman of the Economy Committee in parliament.
This move separates the Economy Committee from the Finance Committee, elevating it to a position of utmost significance within the legislature.
The Majority Leader made the announcement surprisingly on the floor of Parliament on Friday, June 28, to the disappointment of some Majority MPs.
Afenyo-Markin emphasized the proactive stance of the majority, stating, “The new Economy Committee will be the most crucial in this house. This underscores our proactive approach and our commitment to robust parliamentary challenges.”
Other changes are expected to be made public in the subsequent days.
