Queen mothers in the Komenda Traditional council have extended their congratulatory message to Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang on her confirmation as running mate for Mr John Mahama.
In a press release issued by the traditional council and signed by the paramount Queen Nana Adwoa Badu II noted that the choice of Professor Opoku Agyemang, a native of the land is glorifying to the people and thus commended Mr John Mahama, for reposing such confidence in Professor Opoku Agyeman.
“We commend His Excellency John Mahama, the national leadership, and the entire membership of the NDC for the endorsement of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as Running Mate in conformity with the United Nations Women Agenda 2030,” the statement said.

The statement added “Selecting a woman of integrity and substance to be Ghana’s first female Vice-President is a great opportunity to demystify the women’s representation at the zenith of decision making in Ghana”
The statement said the choice was very prudent as Professor Opoku Agyemang with her untainted qualities comes as a great partner for the Mahama led NDC in the December 7 polls.
“H. E. John Mahama had shown forward-thinking by not selecting any woman, but a woman of unblemished integrity, honesty, truthfulness, God-fearing, conscientious public servant, distinguished scholar.”
According to the statement, the nomination of Professor Opoku Agyemang presents a unique opportunity to make the future possible and accessible for women.
According to the statement, the people of Komenda are optimistic that Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang would become the first female Vice President of Ghana and in effect, eventually help revamp the Komenda Sugar Factory and reposition Komenda on Ghana’s industrial map.
