Legendary gospel artist Yaw Sarpong had a surprise visit from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of Ghana and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Kumasi.
Yaw Sarpong had been ailing for a while. While on a campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia took advantage of the chance to pay a visit to the sick musician.
Along with fellow gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Bawumia was accompanied by Chairman Wontumi of the Ashanti Regional NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
Chairman Wontumi explained their visit by stating that Nicholas Omane Acheampong had notified him of Yaw Sarpong’s condition. When the Vice President arrived in Kumasi, he subsequently told him.

Prior to his departure, Dr. Bawumia gave GH₵100,000 in cash to help the sick musician. Yaw Sarpong, who was grateful, greeted the Vice President and thanked him. Prophet J.Y. Adu, a well-known prophet from Kumasi, also conveyed his gratitude and best wishes.
Yaw Sarpong is currently recovering at Prophet J.Y. Adu’s home.
