The Ghana Highway Authority has alerted the public to exercise caution while using the Okyereko Bridge in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The Okeyereko Bridge is currently overtopped due to continuous heavy downpours and rising water levels.
In a statement issued by its public affairs division, the authority urged motorists and commuters plying that stretch of the Cape Coast- Accra Highway to use alternative routes.
The statement said “In the interim, motorists travelling from Accra to Cape Coast are advised to connect through, Akoti- Ojobi- Winneba Road.
Motorists from Cape Coast to Accra are also advised to use the Winneba -Ojobi – Akoti Junction on the N1.
The Ghana Highway Authority indicated it is working with its engineers and technical team to bring the situation under control calling on the public to exercise great patience and cooperate in this regard.
