The Head of Programmes at the Central Regional Headquarters of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mrs. Joyce Frimpong, has called for collective efforts by Ghanaians to protect the peace the country currently enjoys.
Describing peace as costly, Mrs Frimpong underscored the need for the youth, politicians, parents and all to take pragmatic steps in ensuring they follow due process towards the 2024 December polls.
“As the voter registration is ongoing, another time will be allocated for vote transfer, and we expect all parents to advise their wards 18 years and above to follow all instructions outlined during, before, and after the December 2024 polls.
Speaking in an interview with ATLFMNEWS, Mrs. Frimpong especially advised the youth and politicians against voting buying and fuelling violence.
Mrs. Joyce Frimpong argued that the ‘unnecessary’ support to the youth especially giving perpetrators of violence to propagate unlawful actions should be discouraged as it can also blemish the future of the youth in the country.
“We are reminding Ghanaians about vote buying, and bribing people to cause disturbances in the country. The law will not spare you when you are caught”
“Let’s be each other’s keeper, differences in political preferences should not incite violence among us. Peace is costly and we must do everything within our power to protect Ghana’s peace,” Mrs. Joyce Frimpong added.
Mrs. Joyce Frimpong further urged the media to uphold the journalism ethics in the journalism profession emphasizing the need for them to avoid misinformation and disinformation to maintain the peace in the country.
She underscored the need for the media to maintain the country’s trust in them by sharing only credible, fair and balanced news to the public whenever necessary.
