The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects at Ofaakor, near Kasoa in the central region for possessing firearms without lawful authority.
The suspects, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, Mustapha Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Musah onboard a Honda CRV saloon car with registration number GX-2044-19 were arrested on Sunday, June 2, 2024, around the Electoral Commission Office at Ofaakor.
One pump-action gun with four rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the vehicle.
This was shortly after the police arrested two persons in connection with disturbances at the Ofaakor EC office same day June 2.
According to the police, the disturbance ensued over queuing before the beginning of the EC’s activities for the day.
The disturbance led to two people sustaining injuries.
All arrested suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations.
The police in a Facebook post warned against any violence or disturbances at registration centers emphasizing that individuals must stay vigilant and remain calm and law abiding at all times.
