Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Ohene Ntow suspects political undertones in the arrest of Hopeson Adorye.
According to Ohene Ntow, how the Movement for Change member, Hopeson Adorye has been treated leads him to this conclusion.
He said this on Adom FM this morning after news broke that the politician had been arrested.
Nana Ohene Ntow who is with Hopeson Adorye at the Ministries Police Station explained that all they have been told is that Mr Adorye is being investigated for alleged publication of false information.
He also questioned the speed at which Mr. Adorye’s case was being sent to court without proper investigation.
“All our members and lawyers are here at the Ministries Police Station and we want to know which court he would be sent to and the charge levelled against him”
“Hopeson just made a political statement and we have not heard of any fatalities that happened at the time of the claim, so if your investigations are not politically motivated, why don’t you rather ask for further details from him to enhance your investigation on the matter. Have they concluded such investigations to send him to court today?” he questioned.
Nana Ohene Ntow assured that the Movement for Change is prepared to stand by Mr. Adorye and defend him in court.
Mr. Hopeson Adorye, a leading member of the Movement of Change was arrested after he made claims in an Accra-based TV station that went viral.
He claimed he detonated dynamites in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.
He is expected to appear before court, today Thursday, May 23, 2024.
