President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana, Joseph Dakora Zumasigee has admonished internal auditors to uphold high standards to safeguard their businesses and the Ghanaian Economy.
He emphasized that his mandate is to ensure global rules guide members in their profession.
Joesph Zumasigee therefore advised auditors in the country to uphold independence within their professional standards.
He said “Let your independence be based on your professional standards and the professional standards or the global internal audit standards require internal auditors to be professionally courageous. What that means is that, stand for the right, point out the wrong when you see it, demand for the right to be done.”
Joseph Dakora Zumasigee said this at the 3-day, 2024 Annual National Internal Audit and Governance Conference which commenced on May 8th, 2024 in Accra on the theme, Beyond Boundaries: Navigating New Frontiers.
He encouraged internal auditors to request the right way of doing things even at the expense of their jobs.
Stressing his point, he said, “You may have a job but tomorrow you may have no organization to work for because your organization would have collapsed.”
The three-day conference is being attended by accountants and auditors across the country.
