Parrot Mouth, a Nigerian comedian based in Ghana, has expressed his displeasure about how Funny Face approached a business agreement they went into last year.
He said in an interview with Hitz FM‘s Doreen Avio that Funny Face breached a performance contract between them by not performing at his comedy event in Ghana after he had paid the Ghanaian comedian.
The show, Laugh it Off, which was held on April 30, 2024 at the AIS Auditorium billed Funny Face, Akpororo and other comedians.
Parrot Mouth disclosed that Funny Face was paid half of the amount and agreed to take the remainder after the show. However, he later demanded full payment before he would even get to the auditorium to perform.
According to the Nigerian comedian, although they agreed to the change in the agreement, Funny Face failed to show up even when he had been to the premises, waiting in his car.
He said that since then, Funny Face has not reached out or paid back the money.
“[We asked] just for the artiste to come backstage, so that we would all drink, have fun. The artiste manager said, ‘You have to pay the balance.’ And we were like ‘we’ll pay you. We are bringing money, so you just sit down, before you go on the stage, we will give you your money. We are not even going into the auditorium. Just give us 10 minutes. The person that has the money went to pick Akpororo. They said okay.
Before Tosca [my manager] would come down. Funny Face had left. So, we had to call him more than 50 times, he didn’t pick up the call, and I didn’t even call him for a refund or write to him for anything. Because I believe that whatever you do will catch up with you,” he told Doreen Avio in the interview.
While Funny Face is yet to respond to the allegations, Parrot Mouth is girding up for the 2024 edition of ‘Laugh it Off’ slated for April 28, 2024 at AIS Auditorium.
