Under the auspices of HRH Lady Julia Osei Tutu, Manhyia Palace collaborated with Royal Image Group of Companies and Kumasi Evangel Choir to host the maiden edition of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Composers Competition at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on April 5, 2024.
The competition, held at the Great Hall of KNUST, featured seven choirs competing for the prestigious award. Among them, the Tamale Youth Choir from the Northern Region and the Obuasi Heralds Choir from the Ashanti Region were acclaimed as the top choirs of the day.
This event was part of the activities commemorating the 25th enstoolment anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the 16th monarch of the Asante Kingdom.
Her Royal Majesty, Lady Julia, delivered a heartfelt keynote address, acknowledging the exceptional leadership qualities of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his unwavering dedication to serving the Asante Kingdom over the years. She expressed gratitude for his love, compassion, and support for humanity, which has earned him admiration worldwide.
Dr. Amankwaa Agyeman, CEO of the Royal Image Group of Companies, also expressed his gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Lady Julia for their support of the arts and culture. He emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity alongside tradition and proposed that the competition become an annual celebration to promote talent and preserve the heritage of the Asante Kingdom.

Competitors in the event included the Tarkwa Crusaders Chorale, Tema Mass Choir, Bantama Youth Choir, Kasoa Youth Choir, and Amammereso Youth Choir, showcasing the rich musical diversity of Ghana.
