In preparation for the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer, has promised to provide 2,000 megawatts of solar power if elected.
This solar power initiative aims to meet half of Ghana’s electricity requirements, making electricity more affordable for all citizens.
Dr. Bawumia unveiled this plan during a gathering with members of the informal sector organized by the Council of Indigenous Business Associations.

He highlighted that the 2,000 megawatts of solar power could significantly lower electricity costs, benefitting people across the country.
Alongside the solar power endeavor, Dr. Bawumia also pledged to simplify passport acquisition for businesspersons and frequent travelers.
By leveraging the Ghana Card, the process of applying for and obtaining passports will be streamlined, ensuring a hassle-free experience for individuals.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the dual promises of boosting solar power supply and easing passport acquisition as part of his strategy to enhance energy access and streamline administrative processes for the business community and travelers.
