The Assembly Man for Apewosika, Amamoma, Kwesipra, and Kokoado electoral areas in Cape Coast has held a durbar to climax and formally outdoor the committees and projects aligned with his vision for the electoral area.
The durbar, held in the electoral area under the theme: Empowering the Youth through Education: Building a Brighter Community was preceded by a week-long series of activities including games, a cultural display, a health walk and a football match between the communities.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS at the durbar, the assemblyman for the electoral areas, Mr. Jacob Kakra Ewusie outlined some key projects he wants to embark on to help the communities.
Among the projects is a community centre for Apewosika, Astroturf for existing parks in the area and toilet facilities at Kwesipra and Kokuado.
“We will try anyway and any means, and I’m sure the university will also help this community. Yes, I understand the university has a lot of things to do, but I want to challenge the university to make sure that they have done something special for the community. I’m also expecting the community, we all to become one, and then we fight for good things,” he continued.
Mr. Jacob Kakra Ewusie also inaugurated some committees created together with their respective responsibilities to aid work in the communities within the electoral areas.
The committees include sanitation, education, town development, financial, and security committees.
On his part, the head of the Anana Royal family of Amamoma and the chairman of the Durbar, Obusuapanyin Francis Kweku Adu urged the assemblyman to source funds to undertake the projects he has outlined.
He commended the assemblyman for outlining his vision and also pleaded with the assemblyman to tackle the issue of substance abuse among the youth in the electoral area.
“Some assembly members don’t even come with what they will do but we are glad that Kakra Ewusie has organized such a program to outline his vision for the community members to support. So, we the community elders and the Nananom and the members of the community will make sure that the necessary support will be given to him so that he can achieve and continue with the development of the communities,” he added.
