The 62-year-old actor succumbed to complications arising from a stroke and kidney-related disease.
Sources close to Muonagor revealed that he had been undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to address the paralysis resulting from the stroke.
Vanguard Nigeria reported that news of his demise was shared by a social media commentator on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

“Deeply saddened by Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a gifted actor whose performances on screen were truly remarkable. Witnessing his health struggles, we endeavored to support his journey to seek treatment in India.
This tragic loss underscores the urgency for improved healthcare in our nation,” wrote Morris Monye.
Muonagor’s death comes shortly after he made a public appeal for financial assistance to cover his medical expenses.
The actor, who was battling kidney disease and sought to undergo a transplant in India, was visibly unwell in a video shared on social media, with fellow actor Kingsley Orji by his side.
The debilitating effects of the disease had impaired Muonagor’s speech and mobility, rendering him reliant on others for communication.
Earlier, the veteran actor had disclosed that he had been grappling with the aftermath of a stroke for nearly a year.
He recounted that the stroke struck him on the day he had completed filming on a movie set and was preparing to leave in his car.
