The Electoral Commission will on Thursday, July 02, 2020, commence a special arrangement for the compilation of a new voter’s registration at all its district offices for the aged and vulnerable persons.
This was announced by the chairperson of the Commission Jean Mensa when she was addressing the media ahead of the exercise. “All vulnerable persons such as persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and breast-feeding mothers, the aged, that is sixty years and above as well as the sick will be given priority at all our registration centres.”, she said.
The Chairperson added that aside the priority that will be given to these groups at the registration centers; they could also print out the Form 1A before visiting the centre.
“Additionally, they have the option of printing and filling out their form before they go to the registration centres. This will help to speed up the registration process. It is important to emphasize that the form 1a which captures the biometric data as well as the guarantee forms can be found on our websites and the address is www.ec.gov.gh”, she added.

Meanwhile, the Commission has expressed satisfaction at the nationwide turnout of events on the first day of the exercise although it admits there were some few challenges, it has made efforts to address them.
The exercise which started on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, will end on August 6, 2020. It is being organized using the clusters system. A cluster will consist of five registration centres. The entire registration will also be undertaken in five phases; however, a phase will last for six days. A registration team is expected to spend six days at each of the five centres in a cluster. In all, 16 million eligible Ghanaians are expected to be registered in 33,367 districts in the 16 regions of Ghana.
