Lilian Kumah, widow of the Late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah has called on the Ghana Police Service to launch investigations into the alleged food poisoning claims surrounding her husband’s death.
She emphasizes that her husband was courageously battling a terminal disease refuting the food poisoning claims.
These fault statements she says are only adding to the suffering of the family following the death of their beloved.
In an interview with Asaase News, she revealed that her husband had been diagnosed with a blood-related disease in August 2023 in Germany which he succumbed to on March 7, 2024.
She emphasized that the false speculation should be disregarded and an investigation made into the claims of food poisoning circulating before her husband’s demise.
Asaase News reports that the interview was done with her in her marital home in Chantan, a suburb of Accra.
News of the MP for Ejisu, John Kumah’s passing sent shocking waves throughout the country in the early hours of March 7, 2023.
Since then, an Onua TV published video hosted by Mr Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as “Captain Smart” has been circulating online alleging that, the late John Kumah, Deputy Finance Minister and MP for the Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti Region was battling food poising.
Other videos suggest the same raising concerns in the public space as to the real reason behind the death of John Kumah.
