To celebrate a significant milestone in its journey of imparting knowledge, the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) has officially launched its 40th anniversary, underlining a renewed commitment to becoming a leading hub for renewable energy education and research, aimed at fostering sustainable development.
For four decades, CCTU has been at the forefront of providing quality, entrepreneurial-driven technical and vocational education, shaping not only skilled graduates but also innovative entrepreneurs ready to make a mark in Ghana and beyond.
Launching the anniversary and unveiling the anniversary logo, Professor Harold Amonoo-Kuofi, the former Chairman of CCTU’s Governing Council, highlighted the university’s significant contributions to the national renewable energy sector.
He stressed CCTU’s dedication to aligning with the government’s 21st-century Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) strategy, ensuring the institution remains attuned to the evolving needs of its community and continues to meet the technical education demands of all stakeholders.
The anniversary celebrations, themed “CCTU: 40 years of quality Entrepreneurial-Oriented Technical and Vocational Education: Expanding the Frontiers of Renewable Energy,” promise a series of events aimed at showcasing the university’s achievements and its commitment to reducing student unemployment through the production of entrepreneurial graduates.
Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice Chancellor of CCTU, emphasized that the anniversary theme reflects the institution’s enduring essence since its inception, highlighting its role in providing quality education and sustainable solutions to the industrial challenges in Ghana and the wider sub-region.
According to him, CCTU has been instrumental in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among its students, equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in the technical and vocational sectors for the overall growth and development of society.
The Vice-Chancellor further noted that CCTU firmly believes in the power of innovation in renewable energy as a key to a brighter, more sustainable future, where the country can achieve energy independence, environmental protection, and sustainable livelihoods.
On the activities of the anniversary, Prof Kwamina Bamfo-Adjei, Chairman of the planning committee, said there would be an inaugural lecture, health screening for students and sporting activities.
