Chiefs and traditional leaders of the Twifo Hemang traditional area are pleading with the government to change the District Chief Executive of Twifo Hemaa lower Denkyira over misconduct and ill behaviour towards the traditional leaders of the township.
The Paramount Chief of the Twifo Hemang, Otumfuo Amoah Sasreku IV has raised concerns about the selection of the District Chief Executive (DCE) in the district.
He argued that the current DCE nominee, Nana Kweku Abban has misconducted himself and disrespected the authority of the chiefs and traditional leaders of the Twifo Hemang traditional area.
To show their displeasure, the chiefs and traditional leaders clad themselves in red attires and headbands.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs in the township, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the appointment of the current DCE and added that if the necessary changes are not made by the government, they would find it difficult to work together with him.
“We cannot work together with him because he has been misconducted and very disrespectful to the authority of the chiefs of this district. We recently just heard about the appointment of this DCE to come and work with us. This is unacceptable.”
Otumfuo Amoah Sasreku IV stressed the matter stating that the government can replace the current DCE with a capable individual of their choice.
He assured that the traditional leaders would be willing to work with any newly appointed DCE selected by the government for their district.
“We are pleading with the president of the republic to make changes to the current DCE. We need the youth either male or female, we would gladly accept that individual.”
He however emphasized that the chosen individual should be one who would show utmost respect to the traditional authority of the district and also “relate with us respectfully and cooperatively.”
