The Directorate of Health Services at the University of Cape Coast has celebrated the hard work and dedication of its staff at the annual End of Year Staff Award Ceremony.
The event, which highlighted the unwavering commitment of the hospital’s employees, was a testament to the institution’s recognition of excellence and diligence in healthcare service.
The ceremony, held at the hospital’s premises, saw a diverse group of staff members being honoured for their exceptional contributions over the past year. From nurses and doctors to administrative and support staff, the event acknowledged the integral roles each employee plays in the smooth operation of the hospital.
In a heartfelt address, the Director of Health Services, Dr. James Kojo Prah praised the honourees for their dedication, particularly in the face of the challenging circumstances.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the ‘Employee of the Year’ award, a prestigious accolade that recognizes outstanding performance and dedication.
This year, the award was bestowed upon Mr. Michael Kwame Lewis, an administrative assistant who had demonstrated exceptional care with unwavering professionalism.
The awards ceremony was not just about recognizing individual achievements but also about celebrating the collective spirit of teamwork and collaboration that has been pivotal in navigating the challenges of the past year.
The event culminated in a call to all staff members to continue their excellent work, with an emphasis on innovation, compassion, and excellence in patient care.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Mrs.) Rosemond Boohene congratulated the staff for their commendable contributions, propelling the university’s health services to the second-best health facility in the Central Region.
She emphasized the need for continuous improvement and urged management to strive for excellence.
“So, we want to congratulate you once again and let us all prepare ourselves. If God gives us the life, the strength and good health in 2024, we are going to work very, very hard.”
In an interview with ATL FM NEWS, Mr. Michael Kwame Lewis, recognized as the overall best worker for 2023, expressed profound gratitude to the university’s hospital staff and management for acknowledging his hard work.
“He added saying “It’s an awesome moment because, you know, even though you don’t achieve it alone, it is teamwork. But sometimes I believe that the extra hard work and then the extra sacrifices you make is what projects you and I think it has paid off.”
He praised the institution for the awards, encouraging ongoing recognition as a motivation for staff to enhance healthcare not only within the region but also beyond.
As the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere was one of pride and motivation, with staff members feeling appreciated and inspired to continue their vital work in the healthcare sector.
