One of the students involved in the 2021 Achimota School admission scandal, Tyrone Iras Marhguy, performed exceptionally well in the just-completed West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In the WASSCE of 2023, the science student from Achimota School received perfect scores.
After the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced the results nationwide on Monday [Dec 18, 2023], Tyrone and his pals excitedly checked them on a computer. This moment was captured in a video that went viral on social media.
When the group learned that Tyrone had performed exceptionally well with 8As, they all sprang into enthusiasm.
Tyrone Marhguy was one of two people who had trouble getting into Achimota School because of their Rastafarian hairstyles, which were considered to be against the school’s code of conduct.

The Achimota School Board of Governors, the Attorney General, the Minister of Education, and the Ghana Education Service were sued by the Rastafarian students who were denied enrollment because of their dreadlocks.
On May 31, 2021, a High Court decision ordered Achimota School to enroll the pupils.
Tyrone did well academically at Achimota, but after the court verdict, his fellow controversial character, Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea, went on scholarship to Ghana International School.
