Christmas is a great time for many musicians to release a new song, and Francis Dogbey, better known by his stage as Wakayna, an Afrobeats artist, has done just that with the release of Skolom.
Perhaps Wakayna has made it a tradition to release a song for Christmas since he made his debut with Africa Nice in 2019.
Since then, the rather well-known singer has been gifting listeners a song every December in the hopes that Skolom, which was released on Thursday, December 7, will be a great Christmas jam.
With a style reminiscent to Afrobeats, Skolom depicts the tale of a young man who declares his undying love for his partner.
Since he has fallen completely in love with the woman, he believes that using kind words to court her is an authentic expression of his true sentiments rather than a “hit and run” strategy.
Love is the theme of Skolom, a song that many performers sing about. Wakayna thinks the song, which he created and Posigee mixed and mastered, has a more profound meaning, though.

He says, “For many people, love has become a common four letter word but for me, nothing beats love. And the bond of love is more valuable when shared between two people who appreciate and adore each other.
“Christmas is a season of love so with Skolom, I want people to appreciate their partners, for the young men who want to grab, they should be bold about their moves”, he said.
In December 2019, Wakayna made an announcement about his presence with Africa Nice, garnering a lot of attention for his skill.
But in 2020, the corona virus pandemic severely damaged his promising career. Despite this, he released a few tracks, including Bob Marley’s Never Give Up and Don Husky’s Black Lives Matter.
He published the music video for Craze Mad in January of this year, and it was warmly received. He is optimistic that Skolom will continue to make progress in the music industry.
