The Special Prosecutor’s Office has launched a search for individuals accused of vote buying.
This is in reference to the recent New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in orphan constituencies around the country.
Delegates were noticed openly showing the cash they had received throughout the day in return for their votes during the polls on Saturday, December 2nd .
At the Ablekuma Central polling booth, some of them proudly displayed their bundles of money to the cameras.
“I got all of this in just a few hours because I sacrificed for the NPP,” one of them explained.
The situation was no different in the Ejura Sekyeredumase Voting Centre, where several delegates threatened not to vote if the candidates did not pay them.

According to several of these disgruntled delegates, none of the contenders have kept their pledge to assure payment before voting, necessitating their withdrawal from the process.
The OSP identified some of the people seen on camera as wanted after the polls closed.
“The following persons are wanted by the OSP for corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of public elections – especially vote buying,” the statement said.
