The flagbearer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his commitment to introduce a 24-hour economic policy if he wins the 2024 general election.
According to the former president, the NDC’s proposal of the 24-hour economic policy will include operating a three-shift system by industries, companies, and commercial entities on a daily routine.
The former president said the proposal forms part of the several measures enrolled to increase the Country’s economy through job opportunities for the youth.
He added that tax incentives will be granted to businesses that sign up for his proposed 24-hour economy policy, adding that security needed for the successful implementation will be increased.
Mr. Mahama made this comment when he met with traditional, and religious leaders, party supporters, business groups, farmers, and the people of the Bono region during his Building the Ghana Tour.
He also revealed that special meters will be employed to provide what is known as a time-of-use tariff to deliver cheaper power to such businesses at 10 am and 6 am”, respectively.
On the issue of the teacher licensure examination, he pledged to abolish it when elected as president.
In a Town Hall meeting in Wenchi, he disclosed that students write exams throughout their period in school, and therefore when they are completed and ready for work, it is not prudent to ask them to write another examination.
the former president said he would consider putting in place mechanisms to ensure that those who are Chun out of Colleges of Education and other educational institutions are fit to be employed as teachers.
