The Deputy Director of the Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy, Prof Dorcas Obiri Yeboah has encouraged the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to continue to maintain its position in the World University ranking.
She explained that in order to maintain the position more work should be done to enable them to perform better than before.
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) for the third consecutive time emerged topmost-ranked university in Ghana and in West Africa.
This is according to the 20th edition of the World University Rankings (WUR) released by the Times Higher Education (THE).

To her, the ranking should be seen as a “measure to improve your performance in terms of delivering to the people who require your service.”
Speaking in an interview on the Atlantic Wave, she acknowledged that the 2023/2024 scheme was not the same as used for the 2023 ranking.
This, she said has affected many schools including UCC to move to the 7th position in Africa.
Meanwhile, Prof. Obiri Yeboah indicated that if the University works hard as a higher institution learning, then with any comprehensive perimeters, the institution will still do well.
“If you take international outlook, the proportion of international students that we have, the proportion of international staff, international collaborations that this institution has and we know these are all good things that if you do generally improve the quality of teaching and environment in the university.
So, to stay in good performance we just have to do our work well, work towards the university mandate in the best possible way then the ranking will become a side benefit,” she continued.
Prof Dorcas Obiri Yeboah further urged students to help the University’s management to identify some activities which do not help improve teaching and learning.
She also tasked them to report any wrongdoing in the school since this will help boost the confidence level of the students to give good testimony about the university.
Adding to that, she advised lecturers to be committed to their work and do what is right.
