Residents of Nkanfoa, a community within the Cape Coast Metropolis have commended the Daniel Ntow Obese Foundation for bringing healthcare services to them free of charge to improve upon their well-being.

Revealing this to ATL FM NEWS at the weekend, the indigenes said the free health screening exercise was timely and a necessary intervention for them.

The health screening which included blood testing, eye testing, ear testing, Hypertension, Diabetes, typhoid, malaria, and Hepatitis B, among others for free formed part of activities geared towards the commencement of the dedication of the Daniel Ntow Obese Children and Youth (DNOCY) Resource Centre at Nkanfoa.

Expressing his delight at the turnout in an interview with ATL FM NEWS, the organizer for the foundation Dr. Ernest Obese, indicated that the health screening is one of the Cooperate Social Responsibility of the foundation which seeks to give back to the community.

He said, most people are moving about on a daily basis without knowing their health status.

As such he urged them to visit the hospital for a general checkup at least once in a while.

Dr. Obese said people should not wait for physical evidence of signs of any sickness and advised that anytime a health screening exercise is being organized by an entity they should partake in it.

He indicated that his team of abled doctors observed throughout the screening exercise that “people have very, very high blood pressure, which if they don’t take care, can easily kill them.”

He therefore implored the indigenes as well as the public to make regular health check-ups one of their topmost priorities.

The Daniel Ntow Obese Children and Youth Resource Centre houses facilities such as Children and Youth Service Rooms, a 250-seater conference room and a computer laboratory meant to provide computer literacy lessons to the youths of the church and the community to enhance technological skills.

Meanwhile, the Minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Unity Congregation at Nkanfoa Rev Dr Kwasi Otopa Antiri has extolled the services of the late Mr. Daniel Ntow Obese who helped and assisted the activities of the church.

According to her, the late Ntow Obese’s enormous contribution to the church prior to his retirement earned him a building at the church named after him.

She said the church is forever grateful to him and his entire family and pledged to “assist him in everything that he was doing in the church.”

According to him, the Daniel Ntow Obese Children and Youth Resource Centre facility built in the late Mr Daniel Ntow Obese’s honour is in the right direction as it would help the youth and the children in the community.

“We expect that those who are not even in the church should benefit” he continued.

On her part, Mrs. Elizabeth Obese, the Chairperson of the Daniel Ntow Obese Foundation, indicated that the facility would be used to unearth the talents of the youth in the community.

She further said that the Resource Centre will provide scholarships to the needy but intelligent youth in the church and the community.

In addition, she explained that they would train the JHS students for free on basic computer literacy and computational thinking for twelve weeks after which they be examined.
