An Accra High Court will today hear the injunction case filed by the NDC party aspirant, Dr. Kwabena Duffour against the party’s primaries scheduled for May 13, 2023.
The hearing of the injunction case filed by the aspirant was initially scheduled for May 15 but following NDC’s application for an abridgment of time at court to have an earlier suit, the court agreed to hear the case on May 12.
Dr. Kwabena Duffour has prayed the court to place an injunction on the party’s 13th May presidential primaries until a finality is brought to what it describes as discrepancies in the Voters’ register to be used for the exercise.
In an interview monitored by ATL FM NEWS, the Director of Legal Affairs of the party, Abraham Amaliba said the party wanted the suit to be heard earlier than the May 12 given by the court, adding that the new date is keen to the NDC because of the preparation made towards the election which is slated for Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Meanwhile, also contained in the writ submitted to an Accra High Court, the Plaintiff argued that the party failed to provide the necessary photo album register in compliance with the party’s rules, five weeks prior to the elections.
It further adds that an initial verification of the said 220 constituencies on the hard drive given to his representatives by the 2nd Defendant established basic errors and inaccuracies that render the Photo Album Register inaccurate and unreliable for a free, fair and credible elections.
Mr. Amaliba said these claims are unfounded and that most of the issues contained in the writ submitted to court would have been resolved if Dr. Duffour’s team had cooperated with the party and attended a meeting scheduled by the party on May 10.
