The Chief Director of the Central Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Kingsley Agyei- Boahene has urged Nananom of the Oguaa Traditional Council to maximize the use of the annual Fetu Afahye festival celebrations to develop Cape Coast and its environs.
This, he says, can be done by maximizing efforts in generating more funds from the celebrations.
Speaking at the launch of Oguaa Fetu Afahye 2023 on behalf of the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Marigold Assan, Mr. Agyei-Boahene said a website can be created to upload all important activities of the Oguaa Traditional Council.
He believes this will enable both local and international communities to gain easy access to all celebrations.
Speaking on the theme for this year’s Fetu Afahye Celebration; Celebrating our Educational Institutions for enhancing the name of Oguaa, Mr. Agyei-Boahene said the theme throws a great challenge to Oguaa and Central Region to do everything possible to preserve the good image of the educational institutions to enhance the name of Oguaa.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor for the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson has appealed to people all over the world who received education in Cape Coast to return to give not only to their alma mater but to Oguaaman.
He also called on the government and especially the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to come to the rescue and restore schools in Oguaa to their status as an educational hub nationally.
Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson emphasized saying this will help international collaborators and alumni to assist Oguaa in their programs and projects towards the development of the township.
“I know there is an education committee in the assembly. Let them come together; think about education in Cape Coast, and what they can do to help Cape Coast. I also wish to appeal to educational authorities to link their international collaborators and alumni to assist Oguaa in their programs and projects for the development of the town.” he said.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ATL FM NEWS, Prof. Eric Nyarko Sampson urged parents to continue to guide children even after they complete their education.
He also expressed that the head teachers as managers also have a supervisory role to play to ensure that at every time, teachers are teaching what is appropriate for the development of students to reach higher pedestals in life.
