The #FixTheCountry Movement wants Ghana’s laws to bite hard, especially when significant transgressions occur, like the military did in Ashaiman last Tuesday.
Convenor Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor is calling for the resignation of the Military High Command en masse “because they have misconducted themselves and showed themselves incompetent to lead the military in a time of democracy”.
On Wednesday, March 8, he made the demand on TV3’s Ghana Tonight.
The private legal practitioner was speaking in the aftermath of an intelligence-led operation sanctioned by the Command and carried out in Ashaiman to find the killers of a young soldier.

Mr Barker-Vormawor claims the soldiers’ actions are motivated by vengeance, and he is preparing a legal case against the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
“It is important that in times of grave brutalities like this, we make our laws speak loud and clear that the national soul of this country is restored,” he indicated.
“We are demanding the resignation of the entire Military High Command.”
He also urged the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice to take the initiative in prosecuting the Command for violations of civilians’ human rights by soldiers.
He further stated that if the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is capable as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, he will seek the resignation of the Military High Command for the activities of last Tuesday.
Following the swoop, 184 people were detained, however 150 have since been freed.
