The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong has hinted at the University’s introduction of online processing of documents to help sufficiently serve its Alumni body.
He said the introduction of this online processing of documents such as transcripts, English proficiency among others is necessitated by the university’s effort to curb the delay characterizing online services to the alumni.
The online processing of documents made available through the alumni portal will ease the burden of traveling long distances coupled with attendant risks.
“From now onwards our alumni can access this facility and pay with mobile,” he said.
He made this known in an address at the 5th session of the 54th congregation of the College of Distance Education, UCC.
Professor Nyarko Boampong also stated that the college of Distance Education has also introduced an E-learning studio to aid in teaching and delivery of education for both local and international students of the college.
“Our delivery of successful distance education has been characterized by the provision of modules to our students. We admit that there have been challenges in recent times. However, the college has taken the necessary steps to eliminate the impediments by digitalizing the modules to enable ease of access by students. This means that students can access the soft copies of their modules” he continued.
With this, students can engage in interactions with their facilitators as well as write examinations and quizzes in a virtual environment.
This also affords the opportunity to students who may travel outside the country to fulfill all the requirements through the virtual service.
The University of Cape Coast awarded degrees and diplomas to twelve thousand, three hundred and thirty-five (12, 355) students.
On the issue of providing financial support to brilliant but needy students of the university, the Vice Chancellor said steps have been taken to ensure that the financial needs of brilliant but needy students are catered for.
He, therefore, urged the students both in the regular and distance mode to fully utilize the opportunities offered.
