A Ghanaian court has fined Bulldog, an artist manager, GH48,000 for making threats against President Akufo-Addo on television. Bulldog is also known as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson.
According to a report by Graphic Online, Bulldog was judged responsible for provocative behavior that contributed to a disturbance.
The artist manager was fined by the Evelyn Asamoah-presiding court. Bulldog will spend 40 days in jail if the fine is not paid.
Bulldog claimed he was instead trying to persuade the President to help Menzgold’s clients rather than to harm him.
In contrast, according to Graphic Online, the judge stated in her ruling that given the seriousness of his remarks, Bulldog could not have intended to touch the President’s conscience.
She claimed that the artist manager’s remarks might have a significant impact on security because they put the President in jeopardy.
Bulldog was detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in January 2021 as a result of his remarks about the President on UTV’s United Showbiz.

Bulldog was said to have said on the programme that, “the President will not finish his tenure and that he will run away if he failed to pay customers of Menzgold their deposits.”
He entered a not-guilty plea to the charge of “offensive behaviour, conducive to breaches of the peace.”
Hanson was granted bail by Judge Evelyn Asamoah in the amount of GH70,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be government employees.
Bulldog was nevertheless found guilty by the court following a two-year trial.
