Chairman of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee, Mr. Perry Mensah is calling on well-meaning Ghanaians home and abroad as well as corporate entities to continue to contribute towards the reconstruction of the Emintsimadze palace in Cape Coast.
The Palace is the seat of traditional Authority in the Oguaa Traditional Area and its refurbishment has remained the special focus of the Fetu festival since 2018.
Mr. Mensah said fund raising is still ongoing in spite of the suspension of the 2020 Oguaa Fetu Afahye due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The suspension of the festival does not take away our soliciting for funds. We still appeal for funds to continue the refurbishment. In fact till we finish the project, we will continue soliciting for funds.”

In an interview with ATL FM News on Tuesday, Mr. Mensah mentioned that the renovation work came to a halt in 2019 due to the lack of funds but he is hoping to raise funds this year to ensure it continuation.
Giving details on the progress of the renovation work since it began in 2018; Mr. Mensah said they have been able to finish the first phase of the project.
“We’ve been able to do the concrete works, laid pipes and done some wiring. Once the ceiling is done we can do the painting. But at least the first phase where we had to do some structural changes to the place has been done.”
He said a fund raising program is likely to happen by the close of the year due to limited funds for the project.
