The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has applauded President Akufo-Addo for admitting that the country is in economic crisis.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa who is a member of the minority in parliament said this in reaction to the president’s address on the state of the economy on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Mr. Ablakwa indicated that “the only aspect of the president’s address Sunday evening is he saying that when he says we are in a crisis he is not exaggerating. In terms of acknowledging the problem, the president did well. He spoke the truth that we are really in a crisis…That is the fact.”
According to him, the economic difficulties currently faced by Ghanaians are real as it is affecting livelihoods and thus must be addressed.
Meanwhile, he said Ghanaians would have celebrated the president if he apologized to them saying “I am sorry for the economic difficulties I have imposed on you.”
This statement is contained in some fifteen points the North Tongu MP has written on his Twitter page indicating that President Akufo-Addo would have been celebrated if he said them.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said Ghanaians would have also applauded the president if he said he has with immediate effect fired Ken-Ofori Atta and Charles Adu Boahene.
In addition, he wrote that President Akufo-Addo would have received commendation if he had said “I am reducing the size of my government by 40 %; I am slashing taxes on petroleum products.”
