The Nkwanta South District Magistrate Court has remanded into prison custody, a driver involved in the alleged killing incident in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
The court, presided over by Joseph Evans Anang Okrokpa, granted police’s request to remand the 43-year-old defendant, John Nana Sei.
The defendant, whose plea was reserved, is charged with murder and using an offensive weapon in violation of Section 70 of the Criminal Offensive Act (29).
Four additional suspects, whose identities have not been released, are now on the run.
Inspector Bright Nkansah, the Police Prosecutor, requested the court in his motion to give the order to hold the suspect so that the Police may complete their investigations.

The suspect, who is presently in prison, was found with a pump action gun loaded with 27 bullets and two knives, according to police.
Some of the aggrieved family members who were at the court praised the presiding judge for the decision, asking the police to bring all perpetrators to book.
Background
According to police inquiry, the suspect, together with three others and other unidentified suspects now on the run equipped with offensive weapons including firearms, reportedly shot indiscriminately into the neighborhood, killing one person and injuring six others.
The injured victims are being treated at the St. Joseph Hospital in Nkwanta and the Nkwanta Municipal Government Hospital, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at the same hospital for preservation and autopsy.
