The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was enskinned Chief under the stool name Yelemenga Naa, which means “Chief of Truth,” in Issa in the Daffiama/Bussie/Issa (DBI) District of the Upper West Region last Tuesday, 22nd August, 2022.
This was in recognition of his prompt reaction to many requests made to him during previous visits to the district.
Enskinning him, the Issa Traditional Area’s Naa Yelekuang Bawiele I recounted some of the demands to which the President had responded, such as the provision of the Issa Polyclinic and the site of an Agenda III hospital, which is now under construction.
“We requested that you hasten the process to upgrade the Issa Health Centre which was then a CHPS Compound to a district hospital. It has since been upgraded to the polyclinic status since 2019. This is the first in the history of the district since its creation in 2012”, he said.
Development projects
According to the paramount chief, the village currently has 17 kilometers of asphalt roads under Nana Akufo-Addo’s supervision and has been promised another 610 kilometers of roads under World Bank funding.
When President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief and the people on his tour to the area to check construction progress on the Agenda 111 project, the Chief made the statement.
The paramount chief stated that the President has lived up to his campaign promise of having a warm spot in his heart for the district by providing social amenities and infrastructure facilities to them.
Others he cited were the conversion of the Issa Leader Training Institute into a Technical Institute under Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the supply of transportation for the Issa Institute. Others include the construction of a new Senior High School (SHS) and the provision of a bus service to the existing Issa SHS.

“We are happy to announce that through your leadership, the DBI District Assembly, in collaboration with the Catholic Church, established All Saints Senior High School (SHS) in the district some two years ago and what is more gratifying is the upgrading of the Issa Youth Leadership Training Institute to a Technical Institute. We are also aware of the government’s collaboration with the European Union to construct more roads and markets in the district,” the paramount chief said.
Share of national cake
The President thanked them for their offer and told them that the community will have a fair portion of the national cake.
He told them that 610 kilometers of local roads would be built as part of a World Bank initiative.
He urged them to show their appreciation by voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the seat in the 2024 general election.
