The University of Cape Coast has put in place some Covid-19 measures and protocols indicating its readiness to receive final year students back to campus.
The measures are intended to ensure the safety of its staff, students and the university community as academic activities resume on 15th June, 2020.
Management, following the directives by the President on the reopening of tertiary institutions on 15th June, 2020, will commence a disinfection and fumigation exercise in all halls and academic areas.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, the university will also set aside “a special room in each hall of residence for the purpose of quarantine and management of COVID-19 cases.
“Halls will provide additional details peculiar to the halls”, it said.

On issues of accommodation, management said the students will be accommodated in the halls of residence except for those who have “special cases justifying their stay in the self-rented hostels” will be allowed to do so on the cases of merit.
In order to ensure compliance management has indicated that it will engage the student leadership “on how to practicalise the measures outlined”.

It added that “only large lecture theatres will be used for revision, examination, and tutorials” to ensure adherence to the social distancing protocol.
In addition to the other restrictions, students will be required to observe the following measures “No mask, no entry policy, No movement to other halls. Students will have their temperature taken before entering into facilities like halls, library and all academic areas”.
Also, no church services and other social gatherings will be entertained. Students will be required to report with their student ID for the purpose of accessing halls and other facilities.
Meanwhile, other tertiary institutions have opted to continue the use of virtual learning while students remain in their homes.
