ATL FM, a staple of the Campus Broadcasting Services Centre of the University of Cape Coast will on Father’s Day which is slated for Sunday, June 19 join the rest of the world to honour all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and father figures for their immense contribution to their respective families and the society at large.
Father’s Day, a day created to complement Mother’s Day is observed on the third Sunday of June annually.
Fathers, on this day, are appreciated for their fatherly care and love in the family and society.
A colleague sharing with ATL FM NEWS the notable contributions the father had made in the family noted that “My dad is someone I admire so much, I personally admire his love, his patience and how he manages to be calm in tough situations. He is someone who sacrificed his all to make sure that his children are happy.”

She adds that “one of the many favorite memories I have of him is the Sunday evening dance show where they usually play local music and all of us would gather together and dance on Sunday evening. It so nice that even when he is not around the Sunday evening seems like it is not Sunday.”
She further indicates that though her dad is disciplined he is an amazing person and she “want to tell him that he is not just my father but my mentor and my friend and one day would not be enough to celebrate such a hero as him. I celebrate him every day and I’m grateful to God for such a wonderful gift who has blessed my life and others.”
Apart from providing for his family, Mr. Felix Asmah also tells ATL FM NEWS how as a father and a husband he served as the brain behind her wife’s booming business.
He narrates that “my wife was a seamstress and later I realized that the work she is doing cannot help me as a husband, so I discussed with her and I said I want you to do bread because almost everyone eats bread. When I discussed this with my wife she also agreed with me and said my husband I would do so if you will assist.”
In advising other fathers, he said “I will entreat men not to think that they are men so they can do everything all alone, they cannot.”
“That is why when God said to Abraham that leave your family, leave your country, leave your fathers household and go to the land that I will show you… Abraham did not go alone but went with his wife Sarah and his nephew Lot. So I will entreat my colleague fathers that they should exercise patience and sometimes agree with their wives and support them and the Almighty God will help us,” he explained.
Meanwhile, ATL FM in collaboration with Jamaa Agya Pa will this Sunday be celebrating fathers with a programme dubbed “The Father’s Gift.”
