A 17-year-old male student from Sokode Senior High School was killed by thunder.
The tragedy occurred in the late hours of Monday in the provincial capital of Ho after heavy rains, killing the deceased, Emmanuel Dorli, who was believed to be in the company of two of his female colleague students who were also injured and are presently being treated at the Ho Teaching Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the late Emmanuel was apparently struck by loud thunder while peddling coconut along the highway, as he usually does after school hours and on weekends.
They said it was quite loud, and they feel it was spiritual in nature.

“These things are spiritual and it happens only when someone is behind it and the victim might have had issues with someone who decided to go through the spiritual way,” one resident said
According to several locals, the deceased received a weird call from a competitor in the coconut industry advising him not to compete with him prior to the tragedy.
The deceased’s mother narrated the story, saying that her son was selling coconuts after school as usual while she was at work, only for someone to phone her to notify her of the dreadful news.
According to tradition, the deceased’s body may have to remain at the sport until traditional prayers are said before being moved to the morgue.
The police have yet to comment on the issue.
