Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, have both criticized “Russia’s hostile invasion and attempted subjugation of Ukraine.”
The two leaders also agreed on the significance of ongoing support for the Ukrainian people as well as diplomatic and economic pressure on the Kremlin to cease the invasion during bilateral discussions at Downing Street on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
They also talked about the security situation in Africa and other areas of collaboration between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
According to a press release from the UK government, Mr. Johnson praised the strength and breadth of the UK-Ghana partnership, which spans defense, trade, and cultural ties.
“Recognising the growing security threats in West Africa, the Prime Minister and President Akufo-Addo committed to strengthen our defence and security partnership, including in intelligence sharing and naval capabilities,” the release said.
“They looked forward to further strengthening the cooperation between our two countries, and to meeting again in person at the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting”.
