Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes the Black Stars’ strength is in the midfield and believes Thomas Partey and others will ensure victory over the Super Eagles on Friday.
Both countries will rekindle their long-term rivalry this month when they meet in the World Cup playoffs.
The Black Stars will host the first leg at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, March 25 with the Eagles hosting the four-time AFCON champions next week Tuesday in Abuja.

And Badu, who was a member of Ghana’s World Cup squad in Brazil in 2014, believes that the presence of players like Thomas Partey and Joseph Paintsil makes them very strong in the midfield.
“It’s a big game,” said Ageymang-Badu. “Our strength is in midfield. Partey is great, Kudus too and then Joseph Paintsil is fast. If Kofi Kyereh has a good day as well, we will win.”
Partey has been in superb form for Arsenal recently, and bagged the Premier League club’s Player of the Month award for February.
Kyereh comes into the tie with six goals in his last seven games for St Pauli who are in real contention to secure Bundesliga promotion.
The winner of the tie will represent Africa alongside four other African countries at the World Cup finals in Qatar.
Ghana have the upper hand here, with 21 wins to Nigeria’s 10. In fact, the Super Eagles have not beaten the Black Stars since 2006.
The Black Stars have won three of the last four games between the two sides, with the other game ending in a draw.
