Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan says the region has contributed immensely to the development of the nation hence government’s unflinching support for the improvement of the education sector in the region
She made this known while addressing some students and teachers of Philip Quaque Boys Basic School during a tour to some historical basic and senior high schools in the region ahead of the commemoration of Ghana’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The purpose of the visits was to engage with students and teachers as well as to assess the current state of the schools.
Including Philip Quaque Boys, the minister visited St. Monica’s Girls School and Catholic Jubilee School.
Addressing the teachers and students of the Philip Quaque Boys School, the Minister expressed her dissatisfaction with the current state of the school, noting that, while the government will continue to do everything possible to restore the school to its previous state, residents must contribute their quota to the development of the region rather than always relying on the government.
“Even if you look at the sheets ripping off, can’t we get any individual in this town to buy the sheets to put there than waiting for the government to come and salvage the situation? We shouldn’t wait till it collapses on us before we can get up off our shelves and do something for ourselves, ” she emphasized.
According to her, the refurbishment of the school has been tabled before the government, and as such efforts are being done to renovate the school.
She, therefore, asked authorities of the school to officially write to the regional coordinating council for the needful to be done.
