The Centre for Gender Research Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD), University of Cape Coast has held the first of its 2022 webinar series on the topic, ‘Womanism, African Feminism, and Post-Colonial Feminism.
The session had Prof. Akosua Darkwa of the University of Ghana, Dr. Martha Donkor of West Chester University-USA, and Dr. S. N. Nyeck of Emory University, USA leading the discussion on the topic.
Dr. Georgina Yaa Oduro, Director of CEGRAD-UCC and host of the webinar in her welcome address indicated that the series creates a conducive and common platform for members of the academy to discuss issues crucial to the overall growth of gender studies and application of such knowledge in the wider society.
According to Dr. Oduro, since the roll-out of the series in 2020 at the crunch of the Covid-19 pandemic, the platform has been used to successfully hold nine sessions which in all instances have advanced the fundamental aim of diverting attention to gender-related themes.
The next edition in the series for 2022 is scheduled for May.
